Hey Student Stylers. In today's blog I am going to show you how I set up my bullet journal for each month. I am going to go through the steps I take and walk you through the spreads that help me stay organized each month. If you are interested in starting a bullet journal either now or in the future you can always refer back to this blog for some tips and spread/ organization ideas to suit your very own student style.
1st step: Pick a theme
Picking a theme can be difficult. Try and be creative, and get inspired from your own life discoveries. Now that I have been bullet journaling for almost a year, being creative with themes has come a little easier. However, recreating someone else's theme is a great way to start if this is the route you choose. A lot of theme inspiration can also be found on Pinterest. Months with big holidays is also a great way to curate your own theme. For this March, I choose to do a Lucky Charms theme. Not only was I inspired by Saint Patrick’s Day, but I also had so much fun recreating the sour patch kids box for my February theme that I thought I would try something similar again!
Cover Page

The monthly cover page is always my favorite because this is where your theme comes to life. I usually put the most time into this spread as its main purpose is to showcase your creativity and talent. I love when this page looks beautiful because it is the first thing I see turning into a new month. While this page in my journal does not serve much function from an organizational standpoint, you can add your own touches if you want this page to serve more purpose. Lastly, I usually prefer to put this page on the right hand side of my bullet journal.
Quote Page

To the left of my cover page I always include a quote page. Sometimes I have cute and fun quotes to go along with my theme. While other months I may include something inspirational. However, in light of this Lucky Charms theme, I had to go with “They’re Magically Delicious”.
In terms of the creativity level, I like to focus on fontography with my quotes. It is always fun to play around with fonts. At first it is hard to learn aesthetically eye pleasing fontography, however this comes with time and practice. Stay patient student stylers, it's about having fun while staying organized.
Calendar

Turning the page, I like to take a full two page spread for my calendar. If you do not like to plan in a calendar you can always include a small calendar on your Cover page, or you can stick to a single page spread calendar. In terms of creativity make your title cute and add some doodles that go along with your theme.
Habit Tracker & Brain Dump

The next two page spread can be whatever you want it to be. I like to use this spread to jot down ideas and keep myself accountable. I track 5 different habits and usually use the brain dump to plan out ideas for my blog. Other notable options can be a mood tracker and/or your monthly goals. In terms of creativity make your title cute and add some doodles that go along with your theme.
It is important that you find a layout for this spread that suits your needs. I have pictured the layout that has worked for me. Pinterest has some great layouts as well if you want something different for your monthly system.
Weekly Spread

Lastly I plan out a spread for the first week in my month. This layout changes weekly based on what is going on in my daily life.
